Meet Julio & Janice

Janice and Julio lived in Dubai for many years before moving to Andalusia and opening Los Olivos Cycling and Triathlon Training Camp.

“On our second trip to Spain and after searching for several weeks, we discovered Alcala la Real (the best-kept secret for cyclists and runners). It was a quick decision to buy the property because of its strategic location. The house was an old Cortijo (Andalusian farmhouse) that was in need of updating and it is now a comfortable and modern home retaining the old Cortijo charm”.

“As triathletes and cyclists, we knew that the area offered excellent opportunities for training as well as relaxing and discovering the diverse history of this ancient land.”

Janice and Julio have competed in several Ironman half and full-distance races coming first in their respective age groups in Singapore, South Africa, and Dubai. Julio made it to the World Championships in Kona in 2012 finishing 10th in his AG. Living in Andalusia now, they compete in local as well as national and international races including Cross Triathlons and trail runs.

The House

Purchased in 2007, the House was an old cortijo (Andalusian farmhouse) overlooking a valley and in need of a complete renovation. It sits on a 5,000 m2 plot all fenced in and with easy access to the main road. It is now converted into a beautiful guest house meeting modern standards of sustainability and comfort.

There are four beautifully decorated rooms, two with double beds and two with single beds, each with its own en-suite bathroom. These are all accessed from the quaint whitewashed courtyard and have individual access using your own key.

Guests have access to the downstairs living and dining rooms of the main house and all the outside areas which include many places to sit in quiet contemplation, read and relax.
